AUTOXPERT BUYING GUIDES

How to Build a Simple Car-Cleaning Kit

By AutoXpert UK · Practical buying guidance

Start with a few tools that suit the surfaces you clean. A basic kit is easier to maintain than a collection of products you never use.

Separate cloths by job

Keep wheel and dirty-area cloths apart from paintwork and interiors. Label or colour-code them. Follow the cleaning instructions and replace cloths that are worn or contaminated.

Match the brush to the surface

A wheel brush is not automatically suitable for dashboards, glossy trim or screens. Check the manufacturer’s guidance and try gentle cleaning on an inconspicuous area first.

Check the cleaner

Choose cleaners intended for the surface and follow dilution, application and rinsing instructions. More product does not necessarily give a better result.

Buy what you will use

Compare pack sizes and storage space. Start with cloths and one appropriate brush, then add tools for a specific job when needed.

Plan your next step

Choose equipment for tasks within your ability, or contact a suitable specialist about your vehicle. Review sources and current business details before booking.
